Dr. Bert Carrion was born in Puerto Rico, and grew up in New York City. After graduating from high school, he attended Atlantic Union College, a small Christian college in South Lancaster, Massachusetts. While there he received a BA in Biology. He received his medical degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in Loma Linda, California. He completed a Family Practice Residency at the Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park, Maryland.
Dr. Carrion came to the Gobles-Bloomingdale area in 1977. He first worked with Dr. Ekkens in Gobles from 1977 – 1979. Then he was in solo practice in Bloomingdale from 1979 -1995. Since 1995 he has been at the Gobles Medical Clinic in Gobles. He worked at Bethany Nursing Home (now Meadow Woods) for 25 year serving as Medical Director for several years.
Dr. Carrion has been very active with the Gobles Junior Academy serving as the school treasurer since 1979. Dr. Carrion and his wife Denise operate the B & D Ranch. They raise and sell quarter horses. He currently trains miniature donkeys to drive. Dr. Carrion enjoys genealogy research, photography, gardening, coin collecting, camping, and driving his old cars.
